February in the garden

There are plenty of jobs to be getting on with during this short month. Signs of Spring are is evidence with bulbs appearing and a noticable increase in light levels so hang in there, Spring is on it's way!

Chit your seed potato tubers

Protect any blossom on fruit trees such as apricots, nectarines and peaches

Net fruit and vegetable crops to protect them from birds

Prune winter-flowering shrubs that have finished flowering

Divide snowdrops, and plant any bulbs that need planting 'in the green'

Prune Wisteria

Prune hardy evergreen hedges and renovate overgrown deciduous hedges

Cut back any deciduous grasses that have been left uncut over the winter
